ICAP Executive Search on behalf of its client, a leading shipping company operating Oil Tankers, is looking for an experienced professional for the position of:

Technical Superintendent (Ref.: 3926/TS/ESS/GR)

The Technical Superintendent, reporting to the Fleet Technical Manager, is responsible for the overall management and technical operations of an assigned fleet of Oil Tankers.

In particular:

  • Review of all information and documents received from the vessels concerning:
    • Daily performance/voyage summary messages
    • Maintenance (PMS and trouble shooting)
    • Proper input of spares with work done/Inventory update
    • Voyage repairs
    • Out-standings and repair requirements
    • Requisitions for stores and spares
    • Technical forms review
  • Inspect ships at ports and during small voyages to evaluate condition, performance and Officers ability/conduct and reporting
  • Plan, monitor and manage dry-dockings and major scheduled and unscheduled repairs
  • Monitor vessel performance and ensure effective follow-up actions
  • Prepare and manage vessel budgets and operating expenditure
  • Provide day to day technical and operational support and guidance to assigned vessels
  • Follow up new Flag/Class requirements
  • Work closely with other Superintendents and provide technical advice to all company Departments as required
  • Coach and develop Masters and Chief Engineers

Job Requirements

  • University Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in a relevant position in a shipping company
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and PC literate
  • Ability and willingness to travel abroad
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Problem solving, decision making and leadership skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, meeting demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and under pressure
